About Pop Culture Affidavit

Pop Culture Affidavit is “The Sworn Testimony of a Dork,” a blog by someone who has spent way too much time on odd, obscure, and unpopular things in popular culture.

But that’s okay because a dear friend once said to me: “It’s a lot of fun when everyone’s a dork of some sort or another.” As I look back on my life as a dork, I realize that not only have I geeked out, but not in the right way. My taste, you see, isn’t great. But instead of hiding from that, I’ve decided to embrace it. Part commentary, part memoir, this is an exploration of my weird love for the obscure and for those things that sorta suck

  1. HI Tom, I love your In Country Podcast, and wanted to make a comment about the latest episode, covering All Quiet On the Western Front. It was another great episode, but I wanted to point out that the inspiration for Metallica’s song One was actually the 1939 Novel “Johnnie Got His Gun,” the story of a WW1 soldier who is hit by an artillery shell and loses his limbs, eyes, ears and mouth, though his mind continues to function normally. The video contains clips from the 1971 film adaptation of the novel.
Anyway, great podcast, keep us the good work!
