In what is now an annual Pop Culture Affidavit tradition, it’s time for us to celebrate Festivus, the holiday that is for the rest of us! This year, I’m joined for the airing of grievances and the feats of strength by The Irredeemable Shag. We complain about fandom and other things that irritate us and then follow that up by looking at War Dancer #4, which was published in 1994 by Defiant Comics.
You can listen here:
After the cut, a few extras from this episode …
The cover to the comic, which is a 48-page special.
The scene where the mystery woman talks to Sally while she’s taking a bath. Shag and I spent a little time talking about what might be going on here.
The six-panel kick to outdo all other six-panel kicks.
Billy Ballistic’s room.
Shag explains this Raven character, which I totally didn’t get.
This is just one of the extra-long letters in this issue. The response from the editor is golden.
An ad for Schism, the company-wide crossover that never happened.
And just in case you were interested in getting your hands on some Defiant swag, here’s the back cover.
